What My Clients Say

Karyn, founder of Siggi Clothier Co

On visual branding:

This investment, while intimidating at first, has been the best way to spend my money on my business to date. Before working with Elise I had a handmade side business making kids’ clothes. Now I’m a real deal businesswoman with an ethical fashion line for kids.

Visual branding really IS so much more than a logo, even a seemingly simple one. Every little detail adds up to give a brand personality, something I didn’t see until I saw all the Siggi details come together. As a customer, we subconsciously “feel” a brand experience, but as a brand owner there is a great amount of thought added to each subtle detail. Elise made me notice this.

Elise understood exactly the nature of my brand, and offered insight on my brand mission and vision. The result of her hard work is more than good branding. It is a huge confidence boost for me to follow my own creative vision for my brand.

On customizing her Shopify site:

I purchased a theme I liked, plunked in my content and images, and had a look at my site as a whole. I thought it looked great. I rearranged some parts of the home page and main menu and thought it looked even better. After Elise was done, it looked like a completely different website. Like, it transformed into a legit website for a real clothing brand.

I could tell that Elise really listened to what I needed out of my website. Her questionnaire got me thinking about feelings and actions instead of actual design preferences and details. She portrayed it in subtle yet effective ways on the home page and with the flow of the entire site. Everything she added or tweaked seemed like no-brainers, but I don’t have her laser eyes for these visual details to do it myself! It’s clear that she gets my brand values. I don’t know how else to put it, but she has “brand empathy.”

My work with Elise is far from over and I want to keep her for myself because she is my secret weapon! Next level game changer.

My experience with working with graphic and web designers was quite frustrating before working with Elise. I didn’t feel like they tried to understand what I was looking for and the work was often delivered late. I loved that Elise had a clear timeline with due dates for me and deliverable dates. When expectations are clear it makes the process so much less stressful.

I decided to use a Shopify theme because I wanted something off-the-shelf that would be easy to set up and maintain, but I just don’t have the time for all the minutiae that is involved in setting up a website. Tweaking the theme’s appearance, resizing images, etc. is no longer appealing to me. I’d rather have a broad vision and work with someone who understands that and can execute it flawlessly. Elise did that.

A huge benefit of working with Elise is that she has deep knowledge of online business, website functionality and SEO, so she could help me make decisions keeping the end user in mind. Her design skills are top-notch and she finished the project quickly.

Before hiring Elise I was concerned that I would invest a lot of money and not like the result. Her process of understanding what I wanted was so thorough that I was confident I would like the website – and I love it! I appreciated that she held my hand through the process and emailed like a normal person, even when it was about contracts and legal stuff. ????

Hiring Elise accomplished several important things for me: a complete brand and style guide, and strong and clear branding overall…which carried over into my [sewing pattern] instruction booklet. Ultimately, it helped me get the product out sooner.

These were VITALLY important to me. As a new designer, I knew I had the task of proving myself ahead. Having an incredibly clean, well-designed, and well-illustrated instruction booklet was of the utmost importance in chipping away at people’s concerns about buying from a new designer.

I wasn’t even actively looking for a graphic designer when I came across Elise’s name. I had checked out designers off and on, but was always worried about the expense and having to spend half the time explaining what goes into a sewing pattern. When I saw that Elise is a sewist and had worked on patterns before, I contacted her within an hour of seeing her name!

I had to spend a lot more of my own time on this than I expected, but the time I spent felt productive. I wasn’t wondering if what I was doing was worth the time, and in the end it was much less time than if I’d done it all myself.

My pattern instructions and website are clearly of a much higher quality now than what they were before. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on these, and I’ve also been getting more newsletter subscribers. My sales are still very low, but I feel really confident that my site will help to drive sales as I produce more patterns and blog content, improve photos and increase brand recognition.
